You'll play some maps for their replay value, and you'll play some maps for a flash-in-the-bang thrill. Amylase falls into the latter category, and pulls it off with a great degree of personal flair. Finding your way around a sprawling but intuitive obstacle course for the first time. Feeling the tension as seeker drones pass within inches of you. All of these aspects are executed in inspired, original and well cool ways.
Amylase gives you that vital surge of energy that you can only get in a single dose. So make the most of it while you still can.

so it's ok for you to punish us slow players? what about all the races which use drone timing etc. A fair few of those exclude vast swathes of the community.

I completely agree, that drone killed me like ten times, so I had to slow down my runs. I don't think mine's maxed though, so feel free to beat it.

just realised this map is from 2008 - nevertheless...
also, GHM, why the hell would I play a map with no replay value? this does have a fair degree of it anyway, at least until the point you go to fast and die. may as well play a DDA if you want a map with no (re)play value.

Well it couldn't have been that stupid since I'm in college and have never even heard of Amylase, much less what it does. When I first saw this title, I thought maybe it was a reference to a song or just plain random.
Not all of us are chemistry majors, or even really know much/care about science at all, for that matter :/

As for the map, I was amazed by the fact that it was a race. Definitely worth a 5. I just didn't like how the chaser drone zaps you through the teleporter if you go too fast :P

amylase /breaks/ down starch. It is not formed as a product, it is already there.
This is a great map, with very nice flow. I always like races that don't look like races. Well done.

The flow is really, ungeneric, if thats a word. But the race itself is great, the atmos is cool, the teleporter was used well. I cant fault this, so have a 5.
