Map Data

Description Not originally supposed to look like a swastika. Fun to agd.

This map was featured on 2010-05-16

This is not a brilliant, innovative review. This review does nothing new, does not have any fancy elements, and has the generic layout that we have all come to expect. Despite this, this review is still good. While it may be heavily derivative, and in no way original, every element of it is executed so perfectly that it doesn't matter.

This review may be near trite and worryingly close to disengaging, but it sure as hell reads better than any other review like this.

I /was/ inconsistent. But so what?

I'm allowed to have a change in opinion. :/

Nice!4/5......

....and the problem is that it's not just hard but confusing at first.Thought the lower switch would open the door on the right, but I figured out it opened the higher door.

At least I passed it......after almost 10 tries.
The review itself is referring to the map. The point I was making is that it isn't innovative, but it doesn't need to be because it executes it's mechanisms so well. It's retro as.

Last time I use an advanced literary construct like a metaphor. :|

But yeah, I play the inconsistent card. While I think it could have looked a /shade/ better, it sure as hell wasn't enough to detract from the map, I thought. I don't know why I was so cut about the guass placement. :S

So, Tunco, did you really penalize the map for the quality of the review? Also, Sen, you entirely missed the point -- give squibs credit for being reasonably creative (and the for once solid grammar didn't hurt).

well...

despite what seems to be popular opinion, I enjoyed this map. It's fun and simple. And it's generic, but it's still fun. Kinda nice to get back to basics. The only thing about this map that I didn't like were the mines that I died on in that so-close-to-AGD-that-it's-really-fucking-annoying demo. And I liked the review, too. At first, I was thinking "why is he talking so much about the review and not the map?" But then I realized that he wasn't talking about the review, and I felt like an idiot. All in all, this is a damn impressive map, and it's even more impressive that it's his first. 5/5 and a good review.

hate the review

and the map isn't very fun either.
The thumbnail looks really dense, but it's not that way at all.
this is /much/ better. The flow and open ended play are nice, but the mine placement as is just kills it.

Right

The review does not read better than any other review like this, its plain and boring and only subtly references the map in a very non witty attempt at glorification. If the review does nothing new, is unoriginal and derivative then why is it still good? On a literal level thats my perception, but then again, it does link to the map - However then you would be doing the exact opposite of what a review is meant to do, you're saying the map is redundant, yet it is still good. A failed attempt at irony in my opinion...

But then again, why does it matter, or more so, why did I even bother.

Night

AGD

Didn't enjoy this. Very repetitive, very plain.

neat map

although the gauss turret placement triggers some deep-seated revulsion just because they are so close to the gold

it's still cool though. i dig the mine placement and symmetrics

Hmm.

Irony, wtf.

The review was 1/5. The map was 4/5. Rounded up, overall 3/5.

PS

Judging from suibbles first comment on this map, the apparent allusions from review to map don't make sense.

In this context, it appears that the review is just being clever for clever's sake and is not actually a 'review' at all.

OR it's just inconsistent.

Either way it's not as clever as it thinks it is.

Sen.

I think you missed the point. The review appears to be alluding to the map itself, so your mimicry is redundant.

Of course, I could be giving the review too much credit...

2/5

I found this almost entirely devoid of interest and originality, although I'd acknowledge that it's reasonably well put together.
The review could easily have been changed to create a very accurate reflection of the map, byb changing the word review to map and making a couple of other edits:

This is not a brilliant, innovative map. This map does nothing new, does not have any fancy elements, and has the generic layout that we have all come to expect. This map may be near trite and worryingly close to disengaging, but it sure as hell plays just as well, or maybe a little worse, as any other map like this.

Still love it.

Wait holy shit!

That's his first map!
They were just annoying IMO. Otherwise quite nice. 4/5

<3 flag

yeah

it still plays fresher than any map this generic that I've ever played.

ehhh

I guess it isn't /that/ important. It is just a bit aesthetic...

ok, dude.

I have a deal for you. As this is, it's really good. Move the gausses in closer to the middle by a half snap, and I'll review it.

I'd suggest a resubmit, not an edit, but ultimately, that's your call. Oh, I'll need you to let me know when it's done, too.

So pretty much, make it this:
