Map Data

Description Hi guys. This is a fairly newer map that I posted on Nv2 a few weeks back. I figured I would post it on NUMA to get some feedback on my mapping from the community here. I'm really looking to improve since N consumes most of my free time, and mapping makes up a lot of my time on N as well.

Oh shit, thanks a bunch! Very helpful.
FYI, you might wanna respond to people on their own maps — gives a handy notification.

1. The downloadable version of Nv2 has a broken testing system. If you copy the link below where it says the title in the editor tab and paste it into your browser, you can test it that way. You can also just play Nv2 in your browser, the tab testing system works there. (I think there use to be a fixed downloadable version but I'm pretty sure the download no longer works.)

2. This can either be fairly easy or extremely difficult. A lot of mappers have had very little interaction with the rest of the community whilst others make frequent appearances on the chat and/or forum.

Your best bet is to try to find and message them if they are active on the forums. If not, I can try talking to them if/when they join the chat. (I'll just need a list of who you want on NUMA, unless you want to join the chat and wait for them to join in order to tell them.)

If they are someone who has little or no interaction with the community, there are 2 things you can try:

1 - Try seeing if they have another way to be contacted. (e.g. email)

2 - If they have none, you can always wait for them to be online (look at the leaderboards on newer levels, or look to see if they are posting maps atm) and when they are online, just post a level with a title that says something like: "Hey ____, you should join NUMA (N User Map Archive) and post some levels! (insert link)" (Make sure to save twice in the level editor instead of once so that the entirety of your title shows up.) Be warned though; you might draw the attention of some others, and there is a character limit for titles so it might be difficult to get your message across.

I hope that answers your questions and if it doesn't, just tell me and I'll try to further answer them.

Hey you!

I had a couple quick Nv2 questions, if you don't mind.
1) How do you test levels? Whenever I hit tab, my ninja disappears. Sometimes things crash. It's kinda upsetting.
2) Is there any way to talk to people? There's a couple mappers I'd love to see over here at NUMA.
Thanks!

hahahahaha

oops

this is great, almost feels like a race despite appearances.

Thanks!

Thanks for all the feedback and the warm welcome guys. I definitely plan on staying. :)

About the 2.0 to 1.4 transition, I will most likely stop making maps on Nv2 for NUMA once I get used to mapping in 1.4, and once my other npoints map is published. Until then, I'm certainly going to take all of this into consideration, being more careful when mapping and thoroughly testing each map before they are re-listed.

Thanks again guys, means a lot.

WULCUM TO NUMA!

floor is a lava, ceiling too apparently. Interesting approach , a bit too harsh but thats okay

attempt

got pretty far so i think that's a credit to the map. pretty fun stuff actually.
welcome to the site, there aren't many left of us anymore so it's cool to see new faces.

too many mines mane

or, too frustratingly-placed mines, mane

welcome to numa!

like tempus said, n1.4 has some quirks that make transitioning maps over from 2 sorta difficult.

i love how threatening the map looks. all those mines are intensely imposing. could probably use some gold to spice things up.

fun map, and i hope to see more from you!
And what everyone else said about the glitches that occur in 1.4, but you will come to love those glitches and even create maps based on them.
As for the map itself, quite respectable. Things load way slower in Nreality, so it might be nice to tone down the number of mines — not a biggie though.

The guasses struck me as unnecessary; I don't think any of them ever pose a threat to the ninja. I would either have a guass out in the open, where it actually makes you watch your step, or populate some of the little crevices with gold.

I didn't like how it was mostly a very easy map with a couple serious difficulty spikes, but that might just be from the 2.0 --> Nreality transition.

3.5^

Hey hey!

Welcome to numa! Always great to see a new face; hope you stick around for a while. It's a pretty nice place to be.

Pretty decent map, but there's a number of differences between Nreality and 2.0 that you'll have to figure out.

1) Mines are a bit more hazardous in Nreality. They can blow you up through skinny tiles, etc. That makes a couple parts of this map a bit more demanding than they were intended to be, I think.

2) Doors don't work quite the same.
2a) In this map, you can hit the exit and exit switch without opening the door, because they're close enough to the door. Just remember to leave some space and you'll be fine.
2b) You didn't do it here, but many 2.0 mappers stack doors — that is, they have a bunch of doors all in the same exact place. This does really weird things in Nreality; you only need to open one specific door (either the first or last one placed, I can't remember) to open ALL the doors, but if you open another one, it permanently locks the stack. It's weird.

3) Floorguards are a lot less versatile in Nreality. You can't putthem on half tiles, or under half tiles. In this map, that floorguard right above the exit? It comes flying off the ground and eats your head if you poke up high enough.

Lots of other differences, too; these are just the ones relevant to this map. I suspect there's a guide lying around somewhere, or just ask if you need a comprehensive list. My biggest advice to you for now would be to playtest things on Nreality, too.

Hope that helps a bit!
