Map Data

Description This is a remake of my (probably) most popular map: I Hope You're Not Scared of Heights [nmaps.net]

I felt that the map was far too abstract, which didn't fit a concept like the one I used. This version contains most of the same gameplay elements as the original, with minor changes (such as the mechanics of the optional squeezy exit). However, the map as a whole is now much more consistent and thematic - after your ten-storey fall that will test your aerial navigation skills, you must once again ascend to the heavens.

In other news, back alleys between buildings can be dangerous. Steer clear if possible.

After a year,

I still can't get over how cool this is.

I was going to do all gold but got bored :P

Played both, and, really, BuddyLee said everything that needs to be said.

Very helpful criticism, BuddyLee. I'll be sure to keep your comments in mind.

Completion

This remake doesn't emanate the sublime polish of the first. Replayability declines due to the difficulty of the first drop (although it times nicely with the 5 tile at the bottom). The aesthetic is busier; the right side gold is much more spontaneous, bordering arbitrary.

The one-way change at the top is an interesting simplistic choice. However, that jump across is smoother and more powerful in the original; the extra four tiles in height make a difference. (Leap of faith vs. Leap of "I hope I time this jump right".)

Although this version seems to omit the free-spirited appeal of the original, it still includes much of what makes the first so interesting.

*with helpful playtesting from furry*

Could you clarify the parts you find annoying, romaniac? The squeeze exit is essentially bypassing the entire map, so it's understandable that it must be made a little harder than the rest. The jump across the one-ways is actually not as difficult as it looks when you get the timing down.
its just annoying. like the optional first exit. and to get across to the other side you have to do a pretty hard jump. . .

That was indeed an error, Meta. Fixed now, so your demo won't work.

Not sure if this was intended (probably not) but um...
