I think it has to do with input

This only happens when I start sliding down the block and let go of the right arrow before I'm past it. I've noticed something similar to this happen with walljumps on very rare occasions (i.e., jumping off a right wall while facing left, or vice versa). It's like the game thinks you are facing the other way if you're turned around while not pressing any direction keys.
