you are pretty good for a new mapper.
idk about maxson, but I really liked the mechanics at the thwump part :/

what maxson wrote about here, was what I found to be kind of a challenge and I really liked it. the only thing i didn't like is how the tiles looked messy.

I didn't like how the thwump part played

Also, just a tip: When you finish making your map, re-place the enemies. That way they go over the gold instead of under, and it just looks better and more realistic. It's kind of like layering the enemies on top of the gold. I'm not taking off for that in my rating though. :)
