Description
http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/52/northerntease.jpg

This is the most beautiful map you will ever play. I have also tried to make the gameplay more interesting this time around.

Fun fact: The yellow stars accurately depict the Big and Little Dipper, Polaris (the North Star), and Cassiopeia. (Almost) all of the blue stars are in correct positions of lesser stars surrounding the major constellations shown.

When someone says their map is the most beautiful, amazing, glorious map you will ever play, it's usually not. But things are unusual in NUMA, and this map is... Unusual. Rare may be the word, and so often we categorise Nreality maps into a certain prejudice stereotype that Nreality has become a stereotype in itself.

This is indeed different, and especially rare for an Nreality map. Listen to traction, he may illuminate and irradiate your dreary afternoon with the splendour of the Northern Lights.

amazing image

like everyone is saying though, not great gameplay. faved anyway
Really nice image and I love the moving elements to it. I like the atmosphere. I wish the gold were more visible a bit.

featured? o.O

I accept that the gameplay isn't exciting or very inspired. I really wanted this map to be aesthetically pleasing, and I think I accomplished that goal. Of course, great gameplay can more than overcome ugly graphics, and never the other way around. Thanks for the critique, everyone.

and thanks for the feature, i guess. i don't really think this is featureworthy more than anyone else below me does though =)

Terrible

Just terrible.

the image is great, of course. the gameplay is shit :/

first feature and review by superstardom that i've been legitimately disappointed with.
The image itself is very pleasant, but the integration is well below par and the map underneath is hugely uninspired.

There's much more to image work than simply layering a nice picture.

2/5.

this is art.

excellent atmosphere.
the gameplay was ok.

the gameplay is really lacking, but that image and the atmosphere is great!!! you got the feeling of running in a dark winter forest perfectly
grats on the feature!!

Niiiiiice.

One of my favorite

N-reality maps.
5aved!

I love you.

AMLT

If you'd left that comment in the first place i probably would have agree'd.

you're right!

sorry i should have credited you in the description. fixed.

I

helped playtesting :D

this is amazing.

It's an amazing image and atmosphere, but you really need to improve some gameplay aspects like filling up the bottom, too.

yessss
Demo Data

4.5/5 rounded up

Amazing vista! You're definitely right, it's the most beautiful map i ever played (except n-arts). Moving golds (stars) grant variable routes.
Also, agreed with AMLT about the forest part, if you'd set the most bottom part completely straight, it would be better.

chume

yeah that was cocky haha i meant it sort of tongue-in-cheek, of course that is a subjective opinion so it's a silly claim to make.

@iban - i think i read or saw somewhere you can set an overlay that determines the ninja's color where ever he is under it. chume's code would work too, hadn't thought of that.

that comment

was much more useful than the first one. thank you - i can't really argue any of your points: i didn't know how to color the exit switch, so i ended up just hiding it so it looked like something glowing out from behind the trees. you're right it doesnt really match the rest of the map.

not being able to see that ramp is slightly annoying, it's just kind of something you figure out after playing around a few times. i guess that's not great gameplay though.

the tunnel i dont really think is a big deal but i see your point i guess.

after playing it a bunch this morning i noticed the stars can be a little hard to notice. turning my monitor brightness up helped.
get over yourself. Its quite good
@ iban you wanna shove something after the 4th |

Don't tell me off for criticizing the map. In my opinion the map is dull and would be more fun without all the images. At least add some transparency so it's easier to see what's behind the image.
Sure, the image is cool, but I don't rate maps based on how pretty they look. The gameplay is boring, and there's little to do in this map. If you go for fast times you have to guess when to jump at the end as you can't even see the tiles at the bottom.

There's nothing wrong with my computer or my eyes:

1. The exit switch is only partially viewable, and really doesn't fit in with the rest of the map.
2. The low ceiling is almost impossible to see.
3. The ramp which leads to the exit is hidden completely.

Traction

Is there a way to set the ninja color in nreality? like a mod? Doing that can help I would think... at least they cant say they can't see the ninja. Plus it'll help make it slightly better too, if a right color was chosen. :P

amlt

take your attitude somewhere else. its not my fault you play on an the worst computer ever. if that's not the case, you need your eyes checked or something.

maybe i'll make a handicap accessible map for the legally blind among us.
i kinda regret not thinking of it =p

as far as lacking gameplay, have any of you actually tried getting all the stationary stars before the last falling one comes out, while getting every single falling star?
I love the subtle line that show you where the tiles are, but the rest of the game play is quite lacking. I wish I could jump on the moon or something. Low gravity would help.

Wow

The image was spectacular, and the falling stars was a really nice surprise. Didn't help the first few times I played that my ninja was the same exact green color of the background, but that doesn't take away anything from me.

You, No_mally, and Evil_Bob all are going to dominate in nreality map of the year for the dronies ;)

AMLT

Change your ninja's color to white or orange, don't just yell "1" and storm off.

4aved.

The gameplay is dull, but the image work is truly awesome. I also love the animation. It lags on my computer, but looks amazing.

Hum...

The images and mods deserve a 5/5.
The gameplay deserves a 3/5.
Anyways it's a really awesone image-map and i know how it's hard to do this so... 5aved.

Seriously?

I can't even see what I'm doing on this map.
1.
It is a very good map to look at and run around in. One of the best image maps ive seen

it's snowing!

:O:O:O

I must say

this is vrey well made. Gameplay itself felt a bit dull, but when it comes to 'active' image maps, this is the best of the best.

*sigh*
It feels quite typical to do this, but... 5aved.
Great job.
And i don't favorite anything. To be featured, eventually.

Wow, that bacground animation hits the spot! I think it would have been even better if the gravity was turned off and friction lowered significantly.
